The year-end pack

Year-end pack

Year-end assembles everything your accountant (or your own tax return) needs for a financial year, in one place, straight from your ledger.

What’s included

  • Full-year Profit & Loss — the year’s income and expenses in final form.

  • Closing Balance Sheet — your position at balance date.

  • An IR10-style financial summary — the figures arranged the way IRD’s IR10 form asks for them, which is what your tax return preparation actually needs.

  • The annual depreciation run for your fixed assets — previewed before posting, so you see the expense before it is written to the ledger. See Fixed assets and depreciation.

The year-end sequence

  1. Finish reconciling the year — an empty queue through to balance date.

  2. File the final GST period that falls in the year.

  3. Run depreciation from the year-end page — preview, then post. It posts once per year and flows into the pack automatically.

  4. Review the pack, then hand it to your accountant or use it for your own return.

For most sole traders the IR10 summary plus the P&L is nearly everything the IR3 return needs — the pack turns year-end from a shoebox exercise into a review.
