Connecting your first bank account
Bank feeds are the heartbeat of Nightbooks: once connected, transactions arrive automatically and reconciliation becomes a quick daily habit rather than a data-entry job.
Connect a feed
Go to Bank feeds in the sidebar.
Choose Connect bank and follow the secure Akahu flow to sign in with your bank. Nightbooks never sees your bank password — you authenticate directly with the bank.
Choose which accounts to share. Only the accounts you select are visible to Nightbooks.
Map each connected account to a Nightbooks bank account, or create one on the spot.
What to expect
Feeds sync automatically throughout the day; you can also sync on demand from the Bank feeds page.
Most banks provide up to 24 months of history on first connection, which lands in your Reconcile queue ready for coding.
Balances shown on Bank accounts update with each sync, so you can compare book balance to actual bank balance at a glance.
If your bank is not supported
Upload statement files instead — CSV, OFX or QIF, exported from your internet banking. Duplicates are detected automatically, so feeds and uploads can safely overlap. See Uploading bank statements.
